Hey book bloggers!! This is Ashley also known as the bookishrealm and I would love to welcome you to “Bookishrealm Reviews.” On this blog you will find my latest reviews of books, videos from my booktube channel, challenges I’m participating in, as well as other various posts.
As a writer, I also highly enjoy reading other people’s works as well, especially independent authors as they are often the source of undiscovered gems. This site is for book reviews I might write for them and possibly down the line, some interviews with authors themselves.
What Cathy Read Next is all about what I’ve read, what I’m reading now and what I’ll be reading next. I post honest, informative reviews of all types of fiction on my blog, Twitter, NetGalley, Goodreads and Amazon using a 5 star rating system. I especially love to read historical fiction, historical mystery, dystopian and all kinds of literary fiction. I have been known to read the odd thriller but nothing too gory or violent. I’m happy to receive advance review copies in ebook format for Kindle. I can’t promise to review them immediately but will try to do so in advance of publication, if applicable, or within a reasonable time. On the rare occasions I believe a book is worth less than 3 stars, I may still publish the review but the critique will be constructive as I respect the effort that goes into writing a book.
Hello there! I am a reader who absolutely loves having a good book at hand. I feel incredibly empty without a book in my hands. Another thing I love to do is review and critique what I have read.
In my reviews, I typically like to solely rely on how the book is set up. I ask myself if the book went at a slow-pace and if this fit the plot of the book, if the book focused on character development, and so on. I do not like to repeat the synopsis unless there’s a solid reason to repeat the synopsis. I also may include spoiler alerts, but I only do this sometimes and with a spoiler-warning attached.
I also prefer reviewing the following: YA Fiction, Fantasy, Science-Fiction, Poetry, and specified Self-Help books on recovery. Bonus points for those that manage to include several of these! I am also more than willing to review poetry/short stories that have been submitted to online journals and literary magazines, provided that the written word is either sent to me or is readily accessible for free online.
Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
I am Nickii, from Western Canada- and am here to add some color in the Canadian landscape of book blogs! I fell in love with diverse books at a very early age, studied Literatures of different cultures and have been privileged to work closely in the book distribution industry for a few years. Throughout vocational and residential changes, my passion for books grows stronger each day. Through my blog, I will share my passion for diverse books written by diverse authors.
Please note, I do not read or review electronic manuscripts or e-copies; there is something about watching the black dots dance off the physical paper into the imagination that an electronic copy cannot conjure.
I enjoy reading various forms of literature, but a preference will be given to novels and short stories rooted in Historical Fiction covering Asian and African Cultures. Most of my reading time is invested with Professionally Published Books.
Feel free to look up my blog and leave suggestions and comments on my current posts – and MUST Reads!
